The Ration Balancing Programme (RBP), implemented by Kolhapur Zilla Sahakari Dudh Utpadak Sangh Ltd. under the guidance of National Dairy Development Board, promotes scientifically balanced and least-cost feeding practices for dairy animals. The programme enhances milk production, reproductive efficiency, animal health and farmer profitability through efficient utilization of locally available feed resources. It also contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing methane emissions and carbon footprint. Gokul currently operates all RBP modules independently, investing approximately Rs 3.5 crore annually for farmer outreach and cattle nutrition management. From 2013-14 to 2024-25, Gokul reported a reduction of 3,29,756 tons of carbon footprint through effective ration balancing. Gokul’s successful implementation of RBP demonstrates its importance in achieving sustainable dairy development and improving rural livelihoods.
