ABSTRACT

Collectivization of farmers into FPOs eases farmers’ access to resources, infrastructure and information at a lower cost, and also improves their bargaining power in the marketplace. FPOs could provide a stable market to farmers, price negotiations, help in forming better market links with wholesalers, retailers, and processors, reducing dependency on middlemen and help farmers in quality maintenance. The group approach at a manageable size is going to be the extension strategy in the days to come.
